Qualifying will continue through 4 p.m. Friday for those who would like to serve on the Cobb Civil Service Board.
An election will be held Feb. 19-25 by secret ballot among Cobb County employees who are covered by the Cobb County Civil Service System.
For Post 1, this four-year term will begin April 1.
Qualifying is being held in the Cobb County Human Resources Department, 100 Cherokee St., Suite 200, Marietta.
A candidate must:
- be a Cobb resident for two years or more immediately before taking office.
- hold no other elective, appointed, salaried public office or position - either federal, state, county or municipal - during the six-month period before the appointment or the term's duration.
- not have a family member who holds an elected, appointed or public office or position in Cobb County or who occupies any position where wages are paid in whole or in part by Cobb County during any part of the office term or has held such an office or position during the six-month period before the appointment or election. Family member is defined as "spouse, son, daughter, father, mother, brother, sister, stepfather, stepmother, stepson, stepdaughter, stepbrother, stepsister, son-in-law or daughter-in-law."
