The Forsyth County Board of Tax Assessors will send out state-required annual assessment notices to all county property owners beginning May 15.
Chief Appraiser Mary Kirkpatrick said the notices are not bills, and that the dollar amount included on the notice is an estimate based on the prior year’s millage rate. That’s subject to change before actual tax bills go out later in the year. Kirkpatrick says the notices are going to all property-holders, regardless of whether their turf was re-assessed.
Property owners will have the chance to appeal the valuation shown on the notice for 45 days. County officials said there are three possible avenues for appeals, including going to the Board of Equalization.
