The City of Powder Springs has launched a national search for a new police chief  to replace ousted longtime chief L. Rick Richardson. The former chief was fired in February over irregularities in the sale of at least two city-owned vehicles. The search was delayed pending Richardson's appeal of his firing, which ended this week when he dropped his fight to get his job back, said City Manager Rick Eckert. Interested parties should contact Eckert at City Hall, at 4484 Marietta St., Powder Springs, Ga., 30127
