The Powder Springs City Council has appointed Tony Bailey as the police chief, beginning Oct. 2.

His annual salary will be $95,790.

Currently, Bailey is the police chief of West Point and a part-time adjunct faculty professor at Point University, Chattahoochee Technical College and Kennesaw State University.

Formerly, he was a police captain and a lieutenant for Acworth, a sergeant for Woodstock and a firefighter for Smyrna.

A South Cobb High School graduate, Bailey has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration and a master’s degree in Strategic Leadership - both from Mountain State University.

Bailey has additional training from the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, the FBI National Academy and the Department of Homeland Security.
