Cobb County residents will soon have a chance to check out a new restaurant opening near Walmart on Cobb Parkway in Marietta.
Pollo Campero will open Sunday, June 9 at 260 Cobb Parkway. It's the same location that housed Pollo Tropical, a Florida-based, fast-casual chain that closed its Georgia locations in January.
Pollo Campero is known for its hand-breaded and citrus-grilled chicken, crunchy boneless wings and sides such as plantains, yuca fries, rice and beans and street corn salad. Its opening will bring more than 30 full-time and part-time jobs to the area, the company said.
The Marietta location is the third in metro Atlanta and the second franchise restaurant for Madrid Group, Inc. Other locations are in Norcross and Buford Highway in DeKalb County.CEO Mavel Summers said the company is thrilled to open its restaurant in Cobb.

“We have been a part of the Pollo Campero family for many years and have experienced what an incredible brand it is,” Summers said. “From the quality and taste of the food, to the wonderful mix of culture and passion. We can’t wait to share it all with our Marietta neighbors.”
Pollo Campero is also known for its contributions to charitable organizations such as St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Madrid Group continues that trend with its support of Sisters By Choice, a DeKalb-based organization that supports patients who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Pollo Campero’s hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
