Gwinnett County police were investigating a stabbing late Friday morning during a domestic dispute at a home on Jimmy Carter Boulevard.

According to Gwinnett police spokesman Ed Ritter, a woman went to a man’s house to confront him “about a mutual friend.”

The woman was armed with pepper spray and an “ASP baton,” a telescoping weapon normally used by police and security personnel, and allegedly sprayed the man with the pepper spray, Ritter said.

“It’s alleged that the male then defended himself with a machete and started swinging it and hit the female with it,” Ritter said.

The woman was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in serious condition.

The names of the man and woman have not been released.
