Atlanta police Tuesday identified a person of interest detectives are seeking in connection with a July 14 Buckhead apartment homicide investigators say likely was motivated by money.
Zaquavia Kingsberry, 33, was fatally shot in the head at the Gramercy Buckhead apartments where police say she was visiting a friend.
"We believe theft" was the motive, Atlanta Police homicide Det. Kevin Otts told the AJC. "The apartment (occupant) said cash was taken from a computer desk."
Homicide investigators are now looking for a man named Steven Smith, who is described as 5-feet-9 inches tall, weighing about 170 pounds with a bald head, Atlanta Police spokesman Officer Otis Redman said.
Police say Smith is the only person who was in the apartment the day of the shooting who has not been interviewed by detectives. In that time, investigators say that he has ignored numerous attempts by police to contact him.
Anyone with information about the killing or Smith’s location is asked to contact the Atlanta Police Homicide Unit at 404-546-4235.
The investigation is ongoing.
