Atlanta police are asking the public for help locating a 73-year-old stroke victim who went missing from Grady Memorial Hospital’s emergency room Friday morning.

James David Brittain Sr. was last seen about 9 a.m., Atlanta police spokesman Officer Anthony Grant said.

According to police, Brittain was flown to Grady on Wednesday after suffering a stroke. He was reported missing by his daughter after walking away from the hospital Friday morning before being formally discharged.

Authorities said Brittain has diminished cognitive abilities and limited vision in one eye. He is unable to speak or tell others what his name is.

The man was last seen wearing a blue plaid shirt and jeans, police said. Anyone who sees Brittain or knows his whereabouts is asked to call 911 or Atlanta police at 404-546-4235.
