UPDATE (8/18/2017, 3:35 p.m.): The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office has released the name of the victim from the crash.

Buddy Christopher Ramsey, 51, was a passenger in the pickup truck when it collided with a telephone pole. The medical examiner ruled that Ramsey died from blunt force trauma to the head and chest.

An obituary for Ramsey, of Cumming, says that he is survived by his wife, mother, son and other family members. An interment was held for him in Blairsville on Friday, Aug. 18.

ORIGINAL STORY (8/14/2017, 6:21 p.m.): One person was killed Monday afternoon in a single-vehicle accident on Hardscrabble Road, Roswell police said.

The victim, who was a passenger in a pickup truck with a trailer attached, has not been identified and a cause of death has not been determined. Police were waiting for the medical examiner to arrive.

Police said the truck collided with a telephone pole that split in half. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

The driver of the truck was conscious and alert but taken to a nearby hospital, police said.

A portion of Hardscrabble Road, from Crossville Road to King Road, is closed. Repairs could take several hours, officials said.

Several power lines went down and Georgia Power responded to the scene for repairs.

Georgia Power initially reported that 3,300 homes in the area were without power. By 4:05 p.m., the power company reported that “most customers” had power restored. All customers had power back by 6 p.m.
