As accused criminals go, this guy is a real tool.

An arrest warrant has been issued for a man accused of brandishing a Black and Decker hand drill during the attempted weekend holdup of a Smyrna gas station.

According to the warrant, Demetrious Trevell Whitfield entered the Shell station at 875 Windy Hill Road Saturday morning, wearing a mask and with a “small, black and orange Black and Decker hand drill concealed under his shirt and in his shorts.”

“The small drill gave the appearance of a handgun,” the warrant stated, adding that “the replica object was brandished…in the presence of a uniformed Smyrna police officer.”

Whitfield sought money from the clerk “but did not receive the money as this was thwarted by the presence of an officer,” according to the warrant.

Whitfield is charged with felony aggravated assault with intent to rob and wearing a mask or hood, a misdemeanor.
