Several provisions in Peachtree City’s municipal ordinance related to the handling and serving of alcohol at public events have been revised, largely in response to the increasing number of such events being held outdoors at Drake Field.

Following an explanation of the changes by Police Chief Janet Moon, the City Council voted 5-0 on Thursday to amend Section 6 of its code. Alcoholic beverage handling permits will no longer be required for servers (who often must pay their own fees), and events serving alcohol on city-owned property must include a physical barrier with controlled points of entry and exit to enforce the over-21 age restriction. The ordinance has also renamed special events permits to be “special event alcohol permits” for clarification.

The entire ordinance is posted at www.peachtree-city.org under Quick Links/Codes.
