Despite repeated objections from a group of residents, Peachtree City is moving forward with plans to develop Lake Peachtree’s “Snake Island” into a passive park.

Three of seven Lake Forest Cove residents who attended Thursday’s City Council meeting spoke against the plan, concerned about traffic and parking and preferring that the site be left as nature habitat. City Manager Jon Rorie and Mayor Vanessa Fleisch countered that the $200,000 park is among the projects voters already approved for funding by the new Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, but offered to work with residents regarding the placement of a pedestrian bridge to the island.
