An apparent night out at a local strip club ended badly for two out-of-town men when one was stabbed in the parking lot, the victims told police.

But that was about all they told police, as they could not remember the name or location of the club, and could provide only a vague description of the robbers.

Atlanta police were called to the 2000 block of Monroe Place off Monroe Drive shortly before 2 a.m., on Monday by a third party who had spotted a man lying outside a vehicle calling for help.

When officers arrived, they found Travis Faulkner lying in the road, “with obvious stab wounds to the abdomen,” according to police spokesman Greg Lyon.

The driver of the Ford Mustang, which had South Carolina plates, told police that he and Faulkner were at a local strip club when they got into a dispute with two other men.

The driver, Charles Robinette, told police that the dispute continued in the parking lot, where one of the men stabbed Faulkner.

“Robinette stated that he got his .40-caliber pistol out of his car and shot one of the males,” Lyon said in an e-mail.

“Neither Mr. Robinette nor Mr. Faulkner were able to remember the name of the club, any street name or general direction of the club,” Lyon said.

According to Atlanta police, no strip clubs in the city were open at the time, so DeKalb County police were notified to check for any calls related to the stabbing.

DeKalb police were unable to find any reports of shots fired or any other serious overnight incident in their county that could be related to the stabbing.

Faulkner was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment.
