You can pay your Atlanta water bill online again

The customer web portal that Atlanta residents use to pay their water bills has been restored, nearly seven weeks after the March 22 cyberattack on the city’s computer systems.

Customers received an email Tuesday morning with word that the Atlanta’s Department of Watershed Management online bill pay is functioning again. The message also asked customers to login and change their passwords “as a precaution.”

For a period after the cyberattack, online and telephone payments for water and sewer bills were unavailable. Customers had to use others means, including paying in person at City Hall or by sending payments via mail. 

Late fees won’t be assessed until “all payment options are fully restored and billing cycles return to normal,” the email said. Routine site maintenance will be scheduled within the next three weeks, it added.
