Douglas County and Douglasville Government will host a “Welcome Home Celebration” on March 12 in honor of Olympic medalist Elana Meyers Taylor.

The program will begin at 6 p.m. March 12 in the Arbor Place Mall Food Court, 6700 Douglas Blvd., Douglasville.

A Douglas County native, she won her third consecutive Olympic medal during the Winter Olympics in South Korea with bobsledding teammate Lauren Gibbs.

Now she is tied for the most decorated bobsled athlete in the United States, joining Steve Holcomb and Patrick Martin with two silver medals and one bronze.

Married since April 2014, Taylor and her husband Nic Taylor both are Olympic bobsledders.

Meyers Taylor also is one of 13 nominees for Best of the Olympic Games PyeongChang 2018 with a voting deadline by the public of March 15 at awards.teamUSA.org/nominees.
