Long before the hit show "Atlanta" brought the power of J.R. Crickets to a new audience, locals have loyally and enthusiastically patronized the chain.

Fans in the Tri-Cities area of College Park, East Point and Hapeville can rejoice that they no longer have to venture as far to get this specific Buffalo wings fix.

J.R. Crickets College Park is now open, with a grand opening being held Friday. The restaurant offers weekly themed events, such as Bike Night on Tuesdays, Cigar Night on Wednesdays, karaoke on Thursdays and live music on Fridays.

The popular chain has 14 locations in Georgia and a couple of restaurants in Virginia. The original location on Spring Street, which opened in 1982, moved a few blocks away to North Avenue after the building was destroyed by a fire in 2013.

The new restaurant is located at 3529 Main Street. It’s open Monday through Friday, 11-1 a.m.; Saturday, 11-2 a.m and Sunday, 11 a.m.-midnight.
