A motorist was killed Friday in a predawn crash on I-20 in Douglas County.

The single-vehicle wreck happened around 6 a.m. on I-20 eastbound near Lee Road.

A vehicle ran off the right side of the interstate and struck a tree, according to Chata Spikes, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Transportation.

Spikes said there was a fatality in the crash, which shut down the right lane of the interstate.

The name of the person killed was not immediately available.
