A speeding motorcyclist hit an SUV, flew off his bike and was struck and killed by two other vehicles while he was in the roadway, DeKalb police said Monday.

Officers responded to the crash on I-20 westbound at Wesley Chapel Road about 12:30 a.m.

“A motorcyclist was travelling west on I-20 at a high rate of speed swerving between vehicles when the rider struck the rear of a Ford Escape that was traveling west in the center lane,” DeKalb County police Maj. Stephen Fore said. “The impact ejected the rider from the motorcycle and he came to a rest in the roadway.”

The motorcyclist, 31-year-old Karlyn Adams, died at the scene.

The driver of the Ford was taken to Atlanta Medical Center with minor injuries, and the drivers of the two vehicles were not injured.

The crash temporarily blocked westbound lanes of I-20, police said.

No other details were released.
