A motorcyclist was killed in a crash Saturday afternoon on Barrett Parkway, according to Cobb County police.

John Franklin White, 43, of Marietta, was pronounced dead at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital shortly after his motorcycle collided with a Toyota Avalon, authorities said. The wreck happened about 3:20 p.m. near the intersection of Rocky Ridge Road.

Investigators said White was on his red BMW motorcycle headed north on Barrett Parkway when the black Toyota turned left in front of him onto Rocky Ridge Road. The sedan’s driver was not injured in the crash, according to police.

The collision remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the police department’s traffic unit at 770-499-3987.
