A DeKalb County apartment building’s owners have two weeks to take care of a rat infestation, Channel 2 Action News reported.
Ishaniek Mays, a mother of two, said she has caught a dozen rats in her apartment outside Decatur since April and is trying to get out of her lease. She said they sneaked into her refrigerator and ate $200 worth of food.
“There was nothing in the lease saying that there was going to be rats here,” Mays told the TV station.

The DeKalb County Board of Health said a different tenant at the building on Line Circle, off Memorial Drive, complained of rats in October.
DHC Property Management told Channel 2 it inherited the rat problem and is trying to fix it.
Code enforcement officials said if the problem isn’t fixed in two weeks the owners could be taken to court.
