Incumbents fared well in Fayette County’s Tuesday elections as all won their contested races expect for Board of Commission chairman Randy Ognio was defeated.

Ognio appears to have lost to Lee Hearn in a close race for District 2 commissioner that pitted the pair, who have battled each other for offices in the past, against each other once again.

All other incumbent candidates won their races by solid to strong margins. Republicans Eric Maxwell and Charles Oddo won their won his races to represent the party in November as District 1 and District 5 county commissioners respectively. They will face District 1 Democratic challenger Vickie Butler and District 5 Democratic candidate  William Lightle in November.

Board of Education incumbents Scott Hollowell and Brian Anderson won their respective races. Other incumbent winners included Christy Dunkelberger for Magistrate Judge Post 1 and Kathy Brown Valencia for Magistrate Judge Post 2. Incumbent Post 4 Magistrate Judge James White also won in a slightly closer race.
