A 16-month-old baby was pronounced dead Sunday after falling into a pond and drowning Saturday, the Polk County coroner said.

Coroner Tony Brazier said the Cedertown family had a garden fish pond in the backyard and Abigail Marie Wilson fell in Saturday evening. The parents attempted CPR first and fire rescue officials continued efforts to resuscitate the child.

A lifeflight helicopter brought Wilson to Egleston in Atlanta, where she died at 11:09 a.m. in the pediatric care unit, Brazier said.

Cedartown police have not yet said whether any criminal charges will be filed.
