A 14-year-old special-needs student who disappeared Wednesday from a Clayton County middle school has been found safe at a local Wal-Mart, authorities said.

"[Christopher] Robinson was just located at the [Wal-Mart] in Stockbridge. He is safe and in Sheriff's Office custody and will be reunited with his family members shortly," Clayton County Sheriff's Capt. Brian Crisp said in an email Wednesday evening.

The youth ran away sometime that afternoon from M.D. Roberts Middle School on Walt Stevens Road in Jonesboro, according to the Sheriff's Office. Deputies, along with a sheriff's helicopter, had searched the area for the boy.
