In a last step before the Fulton County School Board decides on its next superintendent, Board Chairwoman Linda Schultz and two board members, Catherine Maddox and Julia Bernath plan to travel to Charlotte, N.C. on Monday to see candidate Robert Avossa in action. Avossa, the chief strategy and accountability officer for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, is the top choice to replace Superintendent Cindy Loe who is retiring. School spokeswoman Susan Hale said that a special meeting will be held next week and a decision announced. RICH MCKAY

Georgia College and State University reached agreements with four colleges and institutes in India to allow students and faculty to study in and travel to the country, officials announced Thursday.

The partnerships are with: Amity University, International Institute of Health Management Research, Kohinoor Institute and Magarpatta City Institute. The groups' students and faculty will be able to visit Milledgeville.

GCSU joins other Georgia universities, including Georgia State and Georgia Tech, that are building stronger ties in India. LAURA DIAMOND
