Law enforcement officers take to the roofs of Krispy Kreme Doughnut shops throughout the metro area from
6 a.m. today 6 p.m. on Sunday to “raise dough” for the Law Enforcement Torch Run weekend in May which raises money for local Special Olympics programs.
Georgia’s 2010 Cops on Doughnut Shops event raised $97,000.

Shelby Steinhauer, a French teacher at Milton High School, is Fulton County's Overall Teacher of the Year for 2011-12, it was announced late Thursday. Steinhauer, the system’s High School Teacher of the Year, has taught in Georgia, New York, Washington D.C., Nepal and India. The school system also is recognizing Franklin Burns, a fourth and fifth grade teacher at Spalding Drive Charter Elementary, as Elementary School Teacher of the Year, and Jennifer Foil, a social studies teacher at Holcomb Bridge Middle, as Middle School Teacher of the Year.

COMMUTE
Interchange construction running smoothly
Commuters along I-575 have not been inconvenienced much by the construction of the new north Woodstock interchange on I-575 at Rope Mill Road and Ridgewalk Parkway. Workers are still grading land and clearing trees. The projected completion date for the $17 million project is December 2012.
