Georgia's public medical college has a new dean.

Peter Buckley will serve as dean of the Medical College of Georgia at Georgia Health Sciences University, officials announced this week.

He has been the interim dean since August.

Buckley, a psychiatrist who is an expert in schizophrenia, has served on several commissions.  He was a member of Georgia's Gubernatorial Task Force on Mental Health Commission for a New Georgia and the state's Mental Health Systems Transformation Task Force.
