The public is invited to attend the opening reception of a new exhibition presented by the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs. The reception, free and open to the public, begins at 6 p.m., July 16, at Gallery 72, the city’s public art gallery, 2 City Plaza, 72 Marietta St. The new exhibition, “I Bear Witness: Politics, Protest and Redemption Songs,” is by Richard Allen Ducree, an Atlanta-based photographer, and will be displayed until Sept. 4. The exhibition, a collection of social justice photographs, showcases past struggles and the resulting accomplishments of social justice movements. Ducree says his work is intended as awareness of civil rights issues and the ongoing desire for people to reach peace, justice and true democracy.
