Informational meetings are scheduled as follows:

  • 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Johns Creek Environmental Campus, 8100 Holcomb Bridge Road in Roswell.
  • 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Georgia State University Alpharetta Center, 3775 Brookside Pkwy in Alpharetta.
  • 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hampton Inn Atlanta – Perimeter Center, 769 Hammond Dr. NE in Atlanta.

MARTA will host a series of public meetings this week to get public input on a possible northward expansion up Ga. 400 to Alpharetta.

MARTA will present a summary of the public feedback it has received to date, including a survey conducted by Kennesaw State University. The transit agency will also present information on different expansion alternatives, including the types of service that could be provided (light rail, bus rapid transit or an extension of the existing heavy rail line from North Springs MARTA station). If rail were to be chosen, MARTA is also considering whether it should run along the east or west side of the highway.

Meetings will be held at three locations within the corridor to maximize the opportunity for area residents to have their say on the proposed project.

Any possible expansion is probably at least a decade, if not more, away. No money has been identified to fund the project. MARTA is studying the Ga. 400 corridor to lay the groundwork necessary to be eligible for federal funding should it become available in the future. Also under study for future transit expansion are the I-20 East and Clifton corridors.

More information about the project can be found on Facebook at Connect400 or on MARTA's website.
