Keep Marietta Beautiful and the Marietta Tree Keepers recently announced that the city of Marietta has been named a Tree City USA Community for the 36th year.

The Tree City USA designation comes from the National Arbor Day Foundation, a Nebraska-based organization dedicated to encouraging tree care and tree-planting programs across the United States, according to a city statement.

Communities that receive the designation are required to maintain a tree ordinance as well as an established tree advocacy/governing body that supports an urban forestry program.

Keep Marietta Beautiful is a volunteer organization that works in the areas of litter prevention, beautification, community improvement and waste reduction.

The mission of Keep Marietta Beautiful and Marietta’s Clean City Commission is to generate an environmental pride and a sense of ownership within the Marietta community.
