A 56-year-old Marietta man who was struck by a vehicle early Monday has died, police said Thursday.

David Wehunt was struck just after 5 a.m. on South Marietta Parkway at South Fairground Street, Marietta police spokesman Jared Rakestraw said.

He died late Tuesday night at WellStar Kennestone Hospital, Rakestraw said.

Authorities said the driver who hit Wehunt had a green light while going eastbound on South Marietta Parkway through the intersection, according to a news release.

Wehunt was crossing South Marietta Parkway at or near the crosswalk when he entered the path of the vehicle and was hit, police said. No charges are expected.
