Nearly three dozen employees with the Marietta City School System will be hanging up their hats at the end of the 2018-2019 school system.

Each of these 31 public servants were recognized May 8 at the system’s annual retirement lunch. The Marietta City School System has about 1,400 employees, district spokeswoman Susan Coviello said.

Superintendent Grant Rivera said it’s important for the system to pay homage to these employees, many of whom “gave their entire careers” to Marietta city school children.

“It’s not only their years of contributing to our classrooms and our schools, but it’s the sense of family that we have in Marietta,” Rivera said. “Today is about us coming together to honor and celebrate them, and I think equally as important is inviting their family and including them in the celebration.”
