A northwest Georgia man died Tuesday morning after he struck a wandering horse, the Rome News-Tribune reported.

Carl Scott Pauley, 43, of Summerville, was traveling south on Martha Berry Highway when his 1995 Honda Civic struck a horse on the inside lane, according to the report.

The car veered off the highway, and the horse flipped onto the top of the car when it was struck, police told the newspaper.
