A New Orleans man has been indicted in connection with the death of a woman whose body was found in a car at a Cobb County apartment complex.

A Cobb grand jury Friday indicted Miguel Lindsey Floyd on one count each of malice murder, felony murder, battery, aggravated assault and concealing the death of another nearly three months after police found Ericka Stewart's body inside a maroon 2005 Nisan Altima.

According to the indictment, Floyd allegedly beat and strangled the 35-year-old woman with his hands. Police discovered Stewart’s body around 7 a.m. May 28 in a parking lot at Caswyck Trail Apartment Homes in the 2600 block of Favor Road.

The indictment states Stewart had swelling to her face and eyes. Floyd also bound her wrists and ankles, wrapped her body in bedding and “concealed her body in a motor vehicle,” the indictment charges.

Information about a motive or details about how Floyd knew Stewart have not been released by Cobb police. Floyd was arrested June 4 in New Orleans, Louisiana, Cobb police said. According to The New Orleans Advocate, authorities believe Stewart was killed between 1:30-5:30 a.m. the morning her body was found. Floyd was captured by the U.S. Marshals Service and booked into the Orleans Parish Jail.

Floyd was extradited back to Georgia, and Cobb County Jail records show he was booked into its facility June 25. Floyd is being held without bail, and court records show no arraignment hearing has been scheduled for him.
