The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office Wednesday identified the man shot late Sunday night at an apartment building east of downtown.

Rirecrase Colzie, 38, Atlanta, was visiting a friend at the Auburn Glenn apartments on Boulevard when he answered a knock on the door, Channel 2 Action News reported.

“It was at that time we believe a suspect produced a handgun and discharged a weapon several times, fatally injuring the victim in this case,” Atlanta police Major Keith Meadows told Channel 2.

Colzie died from a gunshot wound to the back, according to the medical examiner.

Police have not released a motive for the shooting or a description of the suspect. The homicide remains under investigation.
