A 51-year-old man died early Thursday after he was trapped in his SUV in a Forsyth County creek.

Myung Youl Park of Cumming was driving northbound on Sanders Road around 6:45 a.m. when his 2002 Ford Explorer left the roadway at a sharp curve, Capt. Tim House with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said.

Park attempted to correct the SUV, but lost control of it and drove into a culvert, causing the vehicle to flip and land in a creek, Investigator Ron Tomblin said. Park was trapped in the SUV and was unable to escape, Tomblin said.

A school bus driver spotted the partially submerged vehicle around 8 a.m., House said.

Park was apparently on the way to open his business, Summit Cleaners on Market Place Boulevard, at the time of the wreck, police said.
