A crash involving a school bus and three other vehicles resulted in heavy delays on the Downtown Connector, one injury and a traffic charge for one of the drivers.
The Georgia State Patrol got a call about the accident just before 6:40 a.m. Tuesday.
“I was advised that a Nissan Versa changed lanes and struck a Honda Accord,” GSP spokeswoman Tracey Watson said. “After impact, the Honda struck a Ford F350, and then the F350 struck a school bus, pushing the bus into the concrete wall.”
There were no children on the bus at the time, and the bus driver was not injured.
The only injury was to the driver of the Honda, who was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, Watson said.
The driver of the Nissan, Thomas John Johnson, 53, of Atlanta, was charged with improper lane change, the GSP said.
The crash temporarily shut down portions of the Downtown Connector near 17th Street. Lanes reopened just before 7:20 a.m., but delays extended as far back as Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport at one point during the morning commute, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
