A 21-year-old man was arrested Friday morning on charges he kidnapped, robbed and sexually assaulted a woman leaving a CVS Pharmacy in Austell on Tuesday, police said.
Darrious Mathis, of Austell, was arrested without incident at 2841 Greenbriar Parkway S.W. in Atlanta, near the Greenbriar Mall, according to the Cobb County Sheriff's Department.
On Tuesday, a 24-year-old woman was accosted right after she walked out of a CVS drugstore at 800 East-West Connector in Austell around 1:30 a.m., police said.
A man with a handgun forced the woman into her car and made her drive him to an unknown location, where he raped her, police said. He then forced the woman to drive to various ATMs in metro Atlanta and withdraw money from her bank account, police said.
At some point, after taking money from the woman, the suspect got out of the woman's car and fled on foot.
Mathis faces five felony charges: hijacking a motor vehicle; possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime; kidnapping; rape and aggravated sodomy.
