The client was Bill Arnett, a famed art collector in Atlanta who helped propel the brilliant folk artist Thornton Dial to prominence.
The lawyer was Gary Coulter, who handled various kinds of legal work for Arnett for years.
Nearly a decade ago, however, Dial works belonging to Arnett began stacking up by the dozens in Coulter's Watkinsville law office. Coulter claims he and Arnett had an agreement regarding the art; Arnett says they didn't. The Georgia Supreme Court is siding with Arnett.
The drawings, by the way, were worth upward of a million dollars.
