The Lawrenceville Police Department is accepting applications for the 2020 Citizens Police Academy. The program is designed to educate citizens about their police department and how officers enforce local and state laws. The goal of the Academy is to “create and develop a growing nucleus of responsible, well informed citizens, who have the potential to influence public opinion concerning police practices and the delivery of services.”

Classes are held 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday evenings beginning Feb. 18 through May 5.

Candidates must be at least 17 years old, live or work in Lawrenceville and pass a driver’s and criminal history check. Preference is given to city of Lawrenceville residents.

Deadline for applications is Jan 8: www.lawrencevillega.org/441/Citizens-Police-Academy. Completed forms can be mailed, emailed, or dropped off at the police department, 300 Jackson St.
