Kick dusty old furniture to the curb in DeKalb

Operation Clean Sweep is a multi-departmental plan involving DeKalb County’s Roads and Drainage, Beautification, Sanitation, Communications and Public Safety departments. The countywide initiative focuses on removing debris, trash and grass from roadway drains, mowing grass and removing litter. Phase I will address 300 miles of major arterial roads before moving to collector roads and residential streets.

If you have a futon you’ve been trying to get rid of since college, I have some good news for you.

The DeKalb sanitation division is offering free residential collection for bulky items every Friday and Saturday in June. Just bring the old couch and appliances to your curb and you’re good to go.

Bulky item pick-up is based on usual trash service day. The schedule is as follows:

This curbside collection is part of a larger DeKalb County movement, Operation Spring Clean Sweep 2018. The program originally launched in 2017. Litter collection, illegal dumping, and removing debris, trash and grass from the streets are some of the program’s main focuses.
