Kick dusty old furniture to the curb in DeKalb

If you have a futon you’ve been trying to get rid of since college, I have some good news for you.
The DeKalb sanitation division is offering free residential collection for bulky items every Friday and Saturday in June. Just bring the old couch and appliances to your curb and you’re good to go.

Bulky item pick-up is based on usual trash service day. The schedule is as follows:

- Residential customers whose regularly scheduled collection day is Tuesday will be serviced on Friday, June 15, and Saturday, June 16.
- Residential customers whose regularly scheduled collection day is Wednesday will be serviced on Friday, June 22, and Saturday, June 23.
- Residential customers whose regularly scheduled collection day is on Thursday will be serviced Friday, June 29, and Friday, June 30.
This curbside collection is part of a larger DeKalb County movement, Operation Spring Clean Sweep 2018. The program originally launched in 2017. Litter collection, illegal dumping, and removing debris, trash and grass from the streets are some of the program’s main focuses.
