The Henry County Zoning Advisory Board voted at its Jan. 9 regular meeting to recommend approval of a request for rezoning from RA (residential-agricultural) to MU (mixed use) for 22.31 acres of property at 109 Old Kelleytown Road, at the southeast corner of that road’s intersection with Hwy. 155.

The purpose of the request is to allow a mixed-use development consisting of a grocery anchored shopping center, ancillary shops and outparcels. The ZAB tabled the request in November but recommended approval of a change in the Future Land Use Map designation to mixed use, although that has not yet been addressed by the Board of Commissioners.

Citizens in the audience objected loudly after the vote was cast.
