First Lt. Jonathan P. Walsh, 28, who grew up in Kennesaw, was killed Sunday in Afghanistan when a truck in which he was riding struck an improvised explosive device.

On Tuesday, the Pentagon announced that Walsh was one of two paratroopers, stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C.,, who died in the blast, along with 22-year-old Pfc. Michael J. Metcalf from Boynton Beach, Fla.

Walsh’s family members declined to comment when reporters visited their home.
