Johns Creek OKs revised plan for seniors apartments

To resolve a developer’s lawsuit that resulted after it rejected a previous plan for seniors housing, the Johns Creek City Council has approved a revised plan that calls for a shorter building with fewer units.

The Council voted 5-2 Monday to approve, with certain conditions and landscape variances, a NorSouth Development Co. of Georgia proposal for a four- and five-story “active adult” apartment complex on the 10900 block of Medlock Bridge Road at Bell Road.

The Council rejected NorSouth’s earlier proposal on Dec. 1, and the developer filed a suit now pending in Fulton County Superior Court. To settle the suit, NorSouth reduced the project’s height to less than 60 feet, so it no longer needs a special-use permit; and reduced the number of units to 140 units from 170.

The building also will have a ground-floor restaurant, a yoga studio and 275 structured parking spaces and 50 surface parking spaces.
