An Indian restaurant in Smyrna, that also runs a food truck, failed a health inspection Wednesday at its main kitchen due to issues with handwashing and repairs that need to be made.
Bollywood Zing, 2772 Cumberland Boulevard, scored a 64/U during the health check.
The inspector noted employees not sanitizing between handling dirty and clean dishes along with one worker not using soap while washing their hands.
There was also an employee slicing tomatoes and handling naan with bare hands, according to the report.
Other issues the restaurant was cited for include a torn screen on the back door and no lid on the establishment’s trash receptacle, both of which are required to stop pests.
The inspector also noted a “deteriorated” wall and missing ceiling tiles in a storage room.
Alakh Pandey, restaurant manager, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Thursday that many of the issues have been fixed, including the screen door.
The restaurant scored an 83/B on its Feb. 1 inspection and a 70/C on its Dec. 20 health check. The food truck scored a 70/C when it was last inspected on Jan. 11. Any score below a 70 is considered failing.
Follow-up inspections are usually done within 10 days of the original evaluation.
