A man had a special delivery to make on Ga. 400 - but this one will eventually learn to walk.
While many were sleeping at 2 a.m. Tuesday, Anthony Johnson was bringing his newborn daughter, Mia Miranda Willow Johnson, into the world in the family car along Ga. 400 in Forsyth County.
Carie Johnson, Anthony’s wife, was due Sunday, but scheduled an appointment to induce labor Tuesday.
Monday night at around 7:30 p.m., those plans started to change.
“Everything felt OK,” Carie Johnson said. “I needed to use the restroom and I tried once or twice, but didn’t think I needed to push.”
After having cramps for about three hours, Carie called her nurse, but decided she could hold off on the hospital visit.
“I wasn’t feeling contractions, just cramping,” she said.
As Caries’s pains worsened, she, Anthony and their 4-year-old daughter, Cierra, rushed to the hospital at 1:50 a.m.
But Mia couldn’t wait.
Within 10 minutes, Carie told Anthony to pull over — Mia was on her way.
Anthony Johnson called 911, rushed to get his wife out of her clothes and prepared to deliver their daughter.
“I was only concentrated on getting her here safely,” he said.
Anthony, with the help of a dispatcher and Forsyth County deputy, delivered Mia into the world at 2:46 a.m.
Mia was wrapped in her dad’s shirt until the ambulance arrived, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said.
“We’re doing absolutely great,” Carie Johnson said. “The baby is perfectly healthy.”
The family remained at Northside Hospital Forsyth through Tuesday evening.
