The Office of the DeKalb County Solicitor General is giving local high school students a chance to help stop teen domestic violence.

In partnership with Cinderella’s Gowns, Men’s Wearhouse and Day League, the county office is sponsoring the 2017 Stop Teen Dating Violence PSA Contest. Seniors and juniors are challenged to put together the best 1-minute video promoting healthy dating practices.

The winning student will receive a prom prize package, the solicitor’s office said. That includes dinner for two, limo service for the evening, and a prom dress and tuxedo for the winner and her or his date.

“It’s one thing for adults to stand in front of students and tell them how to act when they’re dating,” Solicitor-General Donna Coleman-Stribling said in a news release. “It’s quite another when the good example is being set by their peers.”

The winning video will be broadcast by CW Atlanta and will be distributed to schools in DeKalb to play at each prom.

The contest is in observance of Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month.

Entries will be accepted through March 4 at the Recent News page of the solicitor's website: www.dekalbsolicitorgeneral.org. For questions, email solicitorPSAcontest@dekalbcountyga.gov.

The solicitor's officer encourages any teen aware of or experiencing teen dating violence to reach out to www.loveisrespect.org, call the hotline at 1-866-331-9474 or text "LOVEIS" to 22522.
