The Cobb County high school student accused of bringing a loaded pistol to school remained behind bars Tuesday afternoon.

Sean Lorenzo Pendergrass, 18, was arrested Friday at North Cobb High School after another student tipped off school leaders. The school’s resource officer was able to confiscate the weapon from a bookbag. No one was injured, according to a note to parents from Principal Phillip Page obtained by the AJC.

“I want to commend the students who brought this situation to our attention,” Page said in the note. “Students are a critical part of our ability to maintain a safe school campus.”

The pistol, a Raven Arms Model MP-25, was semi-automatic and contained six bullets, according to an arrest warrant.

Pendergrass, of Acworth, was charged with carrying a weapon in a school safety zone. He was being held in the Cobb jail on $10,000 bond, according to jail records.
