The April 18 deadline to file taxes is swiftly approaching, so it may be helpful to know that many taxpayers are eligible to have their taxes completed for free.
There are federal and state programs offering free assistance, including tax preparation and filing, for people with qualifying circumstances. One option is the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, which provides services from IRS-certified volunteers to people who make $55,000 or less.
