The Henry County Fire Department has achieved the best ISO (Insurance Services Office) rating in its history, Chief Luther Phillips informed the Board of Commissioners at its May 19 regular meeting. Phillips said that through a coordinated effort with the Henry County Water Authority and the county’s E-911 department, the score has been reduced to 2 on a scale of 1 to 10. The last ISO evaluation was in 2012 and resulted in a rating of 4.
Officials said a lower rating usually means lower insurance costs for homeowners and businesses — up to six percent for homeowners, deputy chief Jonathan Burnette said at the commissioners’ meeting. The new rating takes effect Aug. 1.
