The Henry County Board of Education reopened the application process for the district’s next superintendent, with the window set to close Sept. 1. Current superintendent Rodney Bowler, who announced in April his intention to retire at the end of September, has now agreed to delay that move by one month to assist in the transition. The goal is for a new superintendent to be in place by November, according to officials.

The board appeared ready to appoint Timothy Gadson last month, but said it rescinded the offer due to contract demands by Gadson that were far above what was offered and what any superintendent had received previously.
